Art for Youth 2017

The City of Oswego has generously granted $1,000 to the AAO to hold a 1-week mini ART for YOUth series of classes during the week of August 21-25.

There is no cost to participate, however, please register for the program only if your child/ren can participate on all 3 days. All students will work on 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional projects each day of the program.

Classes will be held on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at the following times:

  • Ages 3-7 from 8:30-10:15 (1.75 hours) (ages 3-5 must be accompanied by a teen or adult to assist. It is fine for one teen/adult to assist two children.)
  • Ages 8-12 from 10:30-1:15 (2.75 hours)

The 2D instructor is William DeMott. Bill is a printmaker who has been exhibiting and teaching art for the past 30 years. He currently teaches art and art history at SUNY Oswego and Cayuga Community College, as well as teaching art classes and workshops for adults and children through the Art Association of Oswego and across Central New York.

The 3D instructor is Linda Shannon. Linda is a retired art teacher who taught art at all levels K-12 in Phoenix and Oswego School Districts. Linda has been very involved with our ceramic studio during the past year.

Participants must be registered and confirmed into the program to be guaranteed a spot in class. You will receive an automated generic email to confirm your registration form was successfully submitted. You will receive a second email from Jackie Neveu to confirm whether your child/ren have a reserved spot in the program. Spots in the program are confirmed on a first-come first-served basis.

Although this program is entirely free to participants, donations to the AAO are always gratefully accepted.

The Art Association of Oswego is located in the red building at the north end of East Fourth Street in Oswego, just before entering Fort Ontario.
