–CANCELLED– Watercolor Painting – Exploring Abstract Techniques

This class will explore primary colors and include a variety of creative watercolor techniques that could be used in the future with your own watercolor paintings. Techniques will include using a variety of brushes, salt, masking, wax resist, spattering, flinging, washes, backruns, blossoms, lifting, spray water, scraping, sponging, bubble wrap, feathering, lifting, palette knife, paper towels, and more. You will produce a large one-of-a-kind watercolor painting, 15 by 22 inches.

• Age and/or skill level: Adults (age 16+), beginner to intermediate skill.
• Class size limit: max 8 students
• Date(s): Wednesday, Oct. 3
• Time(s): 6-9:00 PM
• Location: Art Association of Oswego – located in the red building at the north end of East Fourth Street just before entering Fort Ontario.
• Cost: Tuition = $21 for AAO members or $30 for non-members. Materials = $10 payable to instructor at beginning of class. All tools and materials will be provided. Note: If you choose to bring and use your own materials, you do not have to pay the materials fee. You must bring at least one large piece of watercolor paper 15 inches x 22 inches or larger along with paints, brushes, and other tools.
• Instructor: Robert A. Jones – Bob is a retired technology education teacher from the Hannibal School District. He began watercolor painting after retirement and has been teaching watercolor painting for several years. This is his seventh year painting and his artwork continues to evolve through experimentation, studies, and practice.
