This class will provide an introduction to the potter’s wheel and hand-building. Students will learn both basic wheel-throwing and hand-building techniques, and experience the steps toward finished glazed creations. All levels of ability are welcome, as well as personal expression. This class is about having fun and discovering the world of clay!
Covid Safety: Class size is limited to 6 participants in order to comply with social distancing protocols. Participants will be expected to wear face masks except while seated at their own work station. Each student will receive a sanitized set of tools for their own exclusive use for the duration of the class. At the end of each class, students will be expected to help clean/sanitize their own work stations and any general studio tools they used.
This 6-week class meets Saturday afternoons, 11 AM to 2 PM, Oct 10 – Nov 14.

- Instructor: Marybeth Sorendo – Marybeth was a production potter for 7 years and operated a ceramics studio for 5 years, producing functional pottery and hand-built tiles.

Pre-registration & pre-payment are required. Please register using the form below. You will have the option to pay immediately directly from the registration form using PayPal, or pay later using a check or money order. If the class is cancelled by the AAO, or if you cancel at least 7 days prior to the first class, your entire payment will be returned. Payments are otherwise non-refundable.
NOTES:
- You won’t be able to get back into the registration form later to pay electronically.
- You can use PayPal as a guest without signing up for an account.
Checks or Money Orders should arrive at least 7 days before the start of class. If there are fewer than 7 days before class starts and you want to pay by check, you need to contact us first. Checks should be made out to “AAO” and mailed to us at: PO Box 271, Oswego NY 13126. Please note the class name & participant name on the memo line of your check.
