The Art Association of Oswego announces the opening of a new exhibition, called Imagined Spaces. This exhibition, which consists of artwork by Ben and Cynthia Jerred, will open with an artists’ reception on Saturday, October 27 from 7 to 9 pm. The public is invited to attend. The event is free and refreshments will be served.

Ben Jerred is an artist and an art teacher in the Fulton City School District. He has taught art to people of all ages for the last 15 years. He uses traditional media, digital media, and a combination of the two to create interactive and narrative experiences. He has also painted local murals, participated in fundraisers, and connected with his community in Fulton, NY. His latest project is Allfield, which incorporates drawing, painting, books, typeface design, collectible cards, animation, music, and video game development. He is also collaborating on a sci-fi series called “Zoo” with his brother Bert and sister Jessica.

Cynthia Jerred is a self-taught mixed-media artistan who has had her work published in over 15 of Stampington’s Somerset Studio and Somerset Life Art Magazines. She is owner and creator of Artistree Workshops in Fulton along with her husband Charles and daughter Alexis. She started the workshops in hopes of sharing her love of creating and providing a welcoming atmosphere to encourage others in the community to experience the therapeutic joy of art.

In conjunction with this show, will be a display of art posters from around the world, sampled from the collection of the late Jo and Richard Hyse. Jo Hyse was the exhibition coordinator of the Oswego Art Guild for 22 years. The first floor gallery at the Art Center is named in her honor.

The Art Association of Oswego galleries are located in The Oswego Civic Arts Center in historic Fort Ontario Park at the northernmost end of East 4th Street in Oswego. The exhibition will continue until November 18th. Regular Gallery hours at the Arts Center are from 10am to 1pm on Saturdays and from 1pm to 4 pm on Sundays. Group tours can be arranged.
